Where are we?
It is 1993 and our trip to America began on board a Virgin Atland flight "The Spirit of Sir Freddy". What a good beginning!

The dangers of Sea World!
Fortunately the whales were not hungry, so Gordon was safe from their massive jaws, but some Americans cast a few coveteous looks; had they never seen a Gopher before, or was it just Gordon's great personality that merited their closer examination and wonder?! |
I think he wanted a ride on the surf board
He didn't get that ride on the Surf Board, but we did have a great week in Florida, before taking our trip to Memphis, Tennesee, to vist The King.
What high-lights we shared! He wanted to pose everyhwhere, but as already mentioned, some places were out of bounds and hiding from security sometimes meant he posed inside my bag!!!!! |

Gordon is in the bag
The weather in Memphis was cooler then Florida and in the evenings it was easier to move around with out getting too hot. Photos of Gordon here were more difficulty, not only because of security risks, but because our visits were often made at night - in the dark and even the visit to the Cinema where Elvis loved to watch films was impossible to film, but we went there. |
Gordon's hotel room in Memphis.
The hotel could not have been nearer to the home of The King. It was almost opposite "The Gates" and we could view their splendour as we looked out of our bedroom window! Also in the vicinity was Elvis's aeroplane "Lisa Marie" and the museum of his cars. Together, we misssed nothing!

"Gracelands" The magnificent!
Built in 1939, "Gracelands" was still glorious when we visited it and my camera encaptured it's beauty! Elvis lived there after he bought the house in 1957 for 100,000 dollars. You could imagine him living there and each room spoke of his interests and seemed to contain his spirit. The meditation gardens in the grounds contain the graves of Elvis and his family; his mother's as is to be expected, is beautiful and tranquil; everything seemed to show loving care. Elvis's love of music and his family goes on attracting more and more visitors each year and Gordon and I were among many fans but felt every visit to the house to be special. |
Tired, but happy!
Gordon and I sleep and dream of our travels, but our guardian angel smiles!

This is one of my favorite images
The bed welcomes tired travellers, but the travels have been interesting, exciting, exhausting, and it is good to reach the place of dreaming of the next port of call. |
